Being A Sports Mascot Is No Joke

Have you ever wondered about what it must be like to be a sports mascot in that heavy get up in the dead of summer at a baseball game or another sport. It must be so hot. Imagine being dressed up like some huge animal, all that fake fur as well as the heavy costume. Well, I actually know somebody who does do it. They told me all about it. First before somebody is hired as a mascot, they are put through tests to see if they can handle extreme heat while dancing around with the heavy and hot costume on. They need to make sure that the person is not somebody who needs cooling air all the time. In fact, they want somebody who can deal with extreme temperatures! It is like being in a furnace there i am told. They actually sometimes have mini fans in the costume, and that does help. But mainly they just hire people who are suited to dealing with the heat. Some people have an internal thermostat that runs a little cooler than some other people. I have noticed that before. Well, mascots are all those kinds of people. My friend who is the mascot is like that for sure. He does say that whenever he can he goes to the part of the stadium that has the absolute best air-conditioning, and he takes off as much of the costume as he can, and he cools down a lot. He would like that time with the cooling system, but he does not actually need it. If it were me I would be trying to get near an air-conditioner the whole time I was in the mascot costume for sure!
