Getting ready for the holidays

Getting ready for the holidays around my house is a lot of work.

I have to start planning in October everything that needs to get done because this time of year is so crazy. My entire family and my husband’s entire family fly into town to stay with us for Christmas through the new year holiday. It is extremely hectic around my house during this time that I need to make sure I can take care of anything before the family arrives. We have so much fun and I am glad my kids get to spend quality time with their family, but boy is it a lot of work. Not only do we have to entertain all of these people, but we have to feed them as well and don’t even get me started on the heating and cooling issues we have every year. One person wants the air conditioner on while the other wants to turn on the heater. I feel like everyone is constantly fighting over what to set the thermostat to. If it were up to me I would turn of the HVAC system all together and we would just gather around the fireplace. I love sitting next to the fire and smelling the burning woods, but not everyone in my family feels this way. I can’t please everyone so we take turns on who controls the HVAC system. I let them draw pieces of paper out of a hat that has the date of when they are allowed to control the HVAC system. I know this sounds crazy, but this is what happens when you have a big family.
