My task takes myself and others all over the country, basically wherever our services are needed; Last year I was only condo for I guess 3 maybe 4 months total, the rest of the time I was out in the field, working to restore power to people after disasters.
The task pays well, as well as I like that I get to help people, but the surroundings are never top notch, and all of us rarely get to sleep in a hotel or any other location with a real roof, mostly the people I was with and I stay in tents as well as trailers on the labor site.
The trailers usually come with , or heating as needed, but the tents are just tents, as well as sleeping there long term can become a major problem. Going a few days in blazing heat as well as humidity without any is inconvenient, for sure, but more than 2 weeks worth of that is pure torture, however for the longer stays they usually send out a few air conditioned trailers that the people I was with and I can bunk in, but not always. This is legitimately an improvement over the past years, when the bosses didn’t even put temperature control in the trailers; Me as well as a few other of the senior businesss all filed a complaint, saying that spending so long in the field with no cooling system was a dangerous labor environment… Now they make sure the senior guys all have access to but that does not extend to any local workers, who are still on their own. Maybe next year they will extend the to those workers, as well.
