Looking back to my college years a long time ago, its so funny think about all of the things that I would do just to make some money on the side! Even though I was a full time student who took his classes very seriously, I was always on the hunt for new job opportunities part time.
One of the first jobs that I was able to get while in college was the worst job I ever had.
It was a labor intensive job working in a warehouse early in the morning. Not only was is it super chilly in the section of the country that I live in, but was also extremely cold in the warehouse that I worked. Even though the warehouse itself was large enough to have a football field put inside of it there was only one or two old and run down heating units inside. When my friend from work and I had enough and tried to go to our manager about the problem with the lack of heating, he told us to “man up” and wear some extra warm clothing if it was that bad. I even tried to take matters into my own hand at one point when I brought my mini portable heating units with me to work one morning in hopes to stay at least a little more warm. The moment that my boss saw that I had the heating unit with me however, he yelled at me to go put it in my locker immediately. I quit this job shortly after this when I realized that any job that can’t afford to get heating to its employees isn’t worthy of my time. Now when I apply to new jobs as an adult, I make sure they confirm they have proper heating and cooling during the interview.
