Visiting our great-aunt’s cabin was an interesting experience growing up! Most of the relatives that the people I was with and I had were far away from where our family decided to end up residing early on in our life.
We moved way down south from everyone.
My parents will tell you there was just better chance in the city that the people I was with and I settled in, not to mention the fact that taxes weren’t so out of control. I did not love any of that stuff growing up. All I knew is that our relatives were far away up north where it was nice and cool, and I missed them, and except for our great aunt Elena, she had moved it down quite a few years before the people I was with and I did. She was a entirely sweet outdated lady, however there was something entirely odd about how she kept her house. As tepid as it would get in that town, she did not seem to believe in a/c. All I remember about visiting her cabin is that it was always quite tepid and there was a odd and unique stink in the air. My parents would rest down for long conversations and all I wanted was the relief of the air conditioner back in the car. Even as a kid, I wondered how healthy it could be for an outdated lady to live in such a tepid house. I suppose I saw a window air conditioner in that cabin once, however it looked entirely outdated and rusty. The lack of air conditioner did not seem to bother on Elena all that much, because she went on to live for quite a few years after that!
