It is so strange living in a country where no 1 plays hockey, but for me, ice and snow was the norm when I was growing up, and so no 1 played baseball or football, the people I was with and I played hockey.
When there wasn’t enough ice, the people I was with and I played street hockey, so moving down here was a shock to the system. I don’t even think anyone who watched hockey on cable down here, so it sometimes feels prefer an alien culture. I was never too pressing on street hockey, for myself and others it was an ice rink or get lost, however it’s so hot around here there is never any ice, and recently, I found a group that has access to a private skating rink in a climate controlled wareapartment outside of town. Apparently a rich girl had an industrial sized climate control system installed out here so that her little girl could have ice to practice her skating, and since the girl had gone off to school, the dad started renting out the air conditioned space to use for activitying events. It would have been too pricey, I am told, except for the girl wanted to play hockey himself… He’s got the massive AC and the ice, she just needed a few women to play with. That was how this local hockey club was founded, and now they meet twice a week at the air conditioned rink to play friendly choice up games. I have to say kneeling out on the ice, under a massive air vent blasting myself and others with cold air, entirely took myself and others back to the afternoons of my youth.
