I run a small landscaping business… Then it started off as a self started company and I just did work for friends and family. Through word of mouth and high quality work at tolerable prices, I’ve been able to make a name for myself. I do everything from mow sods to trimming tree branches to removing stumps. I actually enjoy my job, however, it can get physically draining in the summer. Being in charge, I always make sure that I have plenty of chilly water for myself and my workers. However, water does not compare to the relief gave by air conditioning. Then since I am close to many of my clients, they often let me and my workers into their beach house on our breaks. It’s such a relief to be in the cool blast of the air conditioning. Those breaks make the day keep moving. Then when I get home, I go straight to my own a/c. I rest directly in front of the vent so that I can break the heat with the cool air hitting me immediately. It’s simply impossible to keep working in the sun without getting an air conditioned break occasionally throughout the day. If the people I was with and I don’t have any of the clients that I am close to on a Summer day, I make sure I take my staff back to the warehouse at least twice just to get a break with the air conditioning. Sporadically, I will even take my workers out to lunch. Whatever the people I was with and I can do to access the chilly air an AC unit provides. I don’t want any of my workers getting dehydrated or hurt on the job due to overheating — years of experience makes me realize that it is always worth losing a little time to re energize, rather than pushing ourselves too far and ending up hurt.
