I live in an space which is prone to hurricanes and heavy storms. It’s not unregular for the space to flood, and both of us occasionally lose electrical power. A few years ago, both of us got hit by an especially brutal storm. The high winds knocked down trees and power lines. The flooding swept away cars, filled basements and caused a tremendous amount of disfigure. The only road in or out of my town was completely washed away. The people I was with and I were separate from electric for 5 straight afternoons, and both of us had no option of leaving the house. With no power, both of us lived separate from no running water, lights, sump pump, refrigerator, a/c or dehumidifier. Because of non stop rain, both of us were unable to open the windows. Without running the a/c, the heat and humidity of the beach house was nearly unbearable. Even after the power was restored, it took us a long time to reclaim from the storm. Our basement flooded, and the water left a mess behind. The people I was with and I needed to replace the washer, dryer, and water heater. The people I was with and I ran the dehumidifier at maximum capacity, and still faced issues with mold and mildew growth. Despite taking precautions to protect the exterior component of the undefined, a falling branch caused irreparable disfigure. Fortunately, I had invested in flood insurance, and some of these problems were covered. However, it was such a bad experience, that I never want to go through it again. I took out a beach beach house improvement loan and took the precaution of installing a backup generator. Even if both of us lose power, I can now operate household appliances, such as the a/c, dehumidifier and sump pump for as long as necessary.
