I remember when I was young, I had a terrible experience with my younger brother. I was babysitting him as my parents were out on a date. Well when they were gone, we were feeling a little overheated in the house so I adjusted the thermostat. I’ll be honest, I had the A/C totally blasting but it felt great in the house. After about 30 minutes of this, that’s when the HVAC system just broke down altogether. There was this scary banging noise before it died and then there was a bunch of smoke in the air. So there was no more cooling air coming from the air vents and the air quality was compromised with all the smoke. I quickly called up my parents but I didn’t even know what to say. I told them it was an emergency and the HVAC system exploded. They were in shock upon hearing this news and rushed back home. I didn’t tell them I was totally blasting the air conditioning because I didn’t want to be in trouble, I just told them that the HVAC went up in smoke and I didn’t understand why. They weren’t disappointed with me or my brother, they were just thankful that we were okay and said I did the right thing by calling them right away. This experience has stuck with me even to this day and I’m always cautious when using my HVAC equipment. I always have regular HVAC system maintenance to make sure everything is working just fine, because I really don’t want to experience a situation like that ever again in my life.
