As a landlord, I have been fortunate to oversee a plot of apartment homes for several years now. Despite the financial benefits associated with such a responsibility, being a landlord can truly be a thankless position at times. The silver lining in my eyes though is whenever I have a pleasant experience with a tenant. This was actually the case recently when one particular tenant approached me about servicing the current heating and cooling system due to excess heat they were experiencing in their apartment. Respecting their wishes, I heard them out and acknowledged that I was gonna prioritize their issue. After a couple months of waiting patiently, though, the gentleman grew restless and chose to ask some neighbors for advice. Willing to help in a much more practical way than I was able to at the time that the matter was initially brought to my attention, they recommended that the guy purchase tower fans to resolve the heat-related issues with which he was dealing. Doing so, they said, would provide ample ventilation and thereby dissipate the heat so it didn’t continue to pool and be so unbearable. The tenant was a little hesitant that such a suggestion to fix his problem could be so simple, but eventually he complied, especially when he came to the realization that replacing let alone conducting a severe service repair of the central heating and cooling unit in his apartment was highly unlikely to happen. Grateful for the camaraderie among my tenants and their willingness and ability to keep me abreast of all the major happenings pertaining to it, I agreed to upgrade their unit’s air filters to more durable, longer-lasting ones free of charge.
